Welcome back to Autumn Term 2025, the best term of the year so far!
Parents, the children have all been added to Google Classroom! For any issues logging in, please refer to the Login and Troubleshoot tutorials here.

Class Information
PE Day: for Class 14 is on a Monday: please ensure pupils wear appropriate kit in to school every week (shorts/jogging bottoms, trainers and a t-shirt with a warm jumper for the winter weather).
Reading books: Please aim to read with your child for at least 10 minutes every day and leave a note in their reading record. As soon as they complete their book they can change it in school. Please let me know if you want any further help with reading at home!
Water bottles: please label and send in every day. Only water will be allowed in class - it's easier to clean when it's spilled!
Snack: we are a healthy school so healthy snacks only please.
Jumpers: Often prone to going missing, please label these clearly so we can find and return them when they get lost!
Homework : English (including spellings) and Maths homework is given and returned every FRIDAY. Homework will be accessed through our Google Classroom.
Our Autumn topic - Merthyr's Heroes and Villains
How much do you know of Merthyr's past? What made Merthyr great? Should we be proud of Merthyr? Who are the heroes and villains of the past, is it a clear cut answer?
How's your addition? Or your subtraction? Find out. Supporting your work in class, have fun showing how well you know your number bonds by completing the Numbots Story!
How quick are your times tables? Once you've mastered the concept of multiplication (quicker than repeated addition) test yourself here to get up to speed and be the fastest in the school!

An excellent resource that we use daily to support the concrete and pictorial teaching of maths. Especially useful are the 'Manipulatives'. Any keen pupils or parents may find the auto question generator links helpful for home learning.

Mr Price – Teacher
I graduated from Aberystwyth Uni in 2008 and again in 2010 upon completing my PGCE. I previously taught English in East Africa for a year and spent five summers mentoring students learning English as a foreign language. In my spare time I love anything to do outdoors with sports; big fan of triathlon. I've completed seven marathons so far including completing Ironman Wales in 2018 & 2019. I'm also a British Triathlon Level 1 coach.

Mrs Poplawska ydw i. I am the Forest School leader and teaching assistant in Year 5 and will be supporting Mr Price and class 14 pupils this year.
I love nature, hiking , forest walks, beach trips with my family and all sorts of creative activities like sewing, crafting, mending and embroidery.
I’m looking forward to learning more about our local history this term and spending another year with my old class!
