Class Information
PE Day: for Class 13 is on a Monday: please ensure pupils wear appropriate kit in to school every week (shorts/jogging bottoms, trainers and a t-shirt with a warm jumper for the winter weather).
Reading books: Please aim to read with your child for at least 10 minutes every day and leave a note in their reading record. As soon as they complete their book they can change it in school. Please let me know if you want any further help with reading at home!
Water bottles: please label and send in every day. Only water will be allowed in class - it's easier to clean when it's spilled!
Snack: we are a healthy school so healthy snacks only please.
Jumpers: Often prone to going missing, please label these clearly so we can find and return them when they get lost!
Homework : English (including spellings) and Maths homework is given and returned every FRIDAY. Homework will be accessed through our Google Classroom (if you require paper copies please let me know ASAP).
Our Summer topic - Reach for the Stars!
Incoming!
Our Spring topic - Mind, Body & Soul
And that's a wrap! What a wonderful term it's been. Here's a flavour of what we got up to.
Our Autumn topic - Merthyr's Heroes and Villains
And that's a wrap! Hopefully everyone learned more than a few new things this topic. Thank you to all the children for their hard work and enthusiasm during the topic and especially for acting as tour guides in Cyfarthfa Castle museum for all their parents and grandparents! Some highlights from the term can be viewed below.
Supporting Children in Need 2023.
A trip to Cyfarthfa Castle museum for further reserach into the life and times of the Crawshay family and their ironworkers. Soon we will be writing a biography on Richard Crawshay!
We've some work to do on our presenting skills but the confidence, enthusiasm and willingness is there!
If you have the time, why not explore making music the Songwriting Doctor using Chrome Music Lab!
I graduated from Aberystwyth Uni in 2008 and again in 2010 upon completing my PGCE. I previously taught English in East Africa for a year and spent five summers mentoring students learning English as a foreign language. In my spare time I love anything to do outdoors with sports; big fan of triathlon. I've completed seven marathons so far including completing Ironman Wales in 2018 & 2019. I'm also a British Triathlon Level 1 coach.
