At Cyfarthfa Park Primary School, we have a dedicated Board of Governors who proactively work to improve school standards.

On this page you will find information about the role of a School Governor as well as a list of our current Governors.

What is a Governor?

What is a Governor?

A Governor is someone who cares about the education of children and is willing to volunteer their time to ensure that teaching standards are maintained.

Our Governors are representatives of everyone who has a key interest in the upkeep of our school standards, such as: parents, staff, the local community and the LEA.

What does a Governor do?

Governors are part of a vital team that oversee the management side of a school (strategy, policy, budgeting, etc) enabling the school to run efficiently and provide excellent education to pupils.

They work alongside the Headteacher to act as friends who support the school whilst casting critical eyes upon school standards.

Why become a Governor?

Becoming a school Governor is a chance to experience Board-level leadership and implement strategy that will make a real difference to the lives of our staff and students.

Being a school Governor is the perfect opportunity to improve leadership skills, give back to society and enhance the future of our pupils.

Who can become a Governor?

Anyone!

Governors are appointed for a term of four years on a voluntary basis so, applicants must have time to attend meetings, panels, learning walks and other school occasions.

Volunteers do not need any previous experience of being a school governor or sitting on a board, however, they need to be dedicated to the school and care about improving the education of our pupils.

If you are interested in becoming a Governor please contact the school for information regarding any open positions.

When do Governors meet?

Our Board of Governors meet regularly to ensure that standards are maintained across the school year.
