Humanities

At Cyfarthfa Park Primary it has always been a high priority for our pupils to understand the heritage of where they live and have a sense of belonging. As Merthyr Tydfil has such a rich, historical past: this sits at the heart of our curriculum.

The Humanities Area of Learning and Experience seeks to awaken a sense of wonder, fire the imagination and inspire learners to grow in knowledge, understanding and wisdom.

At Cyfarthfa Park Primary we want to encourage learners to engage with important issues , such as sustainability and help to develop the skills necessary to interpret and understand the past and the present.

In the new curriculum, Humanities 'now' covers: geography; history; religion, values and ethics. We teach theses areas through our topic lessons across the school.
